Meet BOSCO!
Bosco is around 3 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. He is house trained and crate trained. He is friendly towards people. He tends to want to stick to his primary caregiver and can be rude stepping on kids to get close. Yep, Labs and their lack of personal space.
Bosco is a low energy gentle giant. He does not play with toys or with the other dogs he lives with at all. His focus is on human contact. He would love to be pet 24/7. When petting time is over he will go in his crate which is left open because he loves it or he might lay on the couch. Bosco is an attention hog and shows jealousy when other dogs get attention. His foster’s other dogs are laid back so it has not been a problem. Bosco is good with the cats.
Bosco will resource guard his food as well as food people are eating from other dogs. He has only growled at his foster’s male dog; he has not growled at the female dog. He does not growl at people. To manage this both dogs are fed in separate rooms.
Bosco needs a home without young children, teenagers would be okay. This is due to his resource guarding and that he will step on youngsters and does paw for attention.
Bosco is not a chewer except on a bone. On a couple occasions he has carried a shoe from one room to the next but just put it down. He will jump at meal time or to get a treat but he does not jump to greet family or guest. He does like to bark if he sees something outside but that is most likely because he is joining in with his foster’s female dog. He has occasionally barked at one of the cats but will stop immediately if interrupted.
Bosco is very smart and has learned wait for a treat or he won’t go outside; his foster has a hard time saying no to his soulful eyes so she does give him a treat to entice him out. He is quite spoiled. Bosco sleeps with his crate covered at night otherwise as soon as someone stirs he is awake and wanting breakfast. With the crate covered he sleeps until it is time to get up.
Bosco would do great with a family with a low energy or older female dog as he does not play at all. He has no interest in toys or playing with other dogs. He just needs a home where he can get lots of human affection. His foster is a stay at home mom and has been able to give him lots of attention and that is all he seems to care about (other than food). He is very low energy and very laid back.
